An 80-year-old woman was killed in a car crash that happened along Lake Ontario State Parkway last Saturday. The woman was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle that was in the process of making a left turn when a sport utility vehicle passed in front of the vehicle. The force of the collision caused the elderly woman to be ejected from her vehicle. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the accident scene.

Deputies still do not know why the accident occurred. Family members were present when deputies pronounced the elderly woman to be dead. Deputies suspect that she was not wearing a seatbelt.

A neighbor, who did not see the accident but heard the horrific sound of the two vehicle crashing, said that people drive recklessly along the parkway. Furthermore, she said that drivers on the parkway may not be aware of the side roads leading to the beach, which can be very busy during the summer. She said that it is important drivers slow down before they arrive at these intersections.

The woman who was killed was just a mile from where she was headed. Two other people who were involved in the crash were fortunate to survive.

Considering that this unfortunate accident was a fatal one, it could give rise to a wrongful death action. Whenever an Ontario family loses a loved one in an auto collision, it is important to gather as much evidence as possible regarding the moments leading up to the crash. This could serve to support a claim for wrongful death damages, should the loved ones of a deceased car crash victim choose to pursue such claims in court.
